On the 15 Nov 2022, it was announced that the Jurong Regional Library, at its location along Jurong East Central 1, will relocate over to the Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub situated at Jurong East MRT station, and will open in 2028.
In place of the location of the Jurong Regional Library, it is set to be replaced by a residential development with shops at the first storey, based on a proposed amendment to URA’s master plan published in Oct 2022.
This is part of a broader effort to develop Jurong Lake District into the largest business district outside the central business district and to support new growth and development.

The current site that Jurong Regional Library sits on is zoned commercial and residential, and there are currently plans to redevelop the site into a Residential development with commercial shops on the first storey.

Jurong Regional Library will be relocated to the Jurong East MRT station area, said the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and National Library Board (NLB) on Tuesday (Nov 15).
In a joint statement, URA and NLB said the library will be relocated about 400m away, to the Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub situated at Jurong East MRT station.
The new library is expected to open in 2028 and will be similar in size to the current one, said URA’s group director of physical planning Yvonne Lim and NLB’S director of planning and development Wan Wee Pin in the statement.

The Jurong Regional Library will be relocated to the upcoming Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub, which is slated for completion in 2027.
The integrated hub will also house a community club, a sports centre, offices and retail space in a 27-storey tower block that will be connected to an eight-storey podium by a bridge.
On Nov 3, The Straits Times reported that the library will be among several buildings affected by the next phase of development for Jurong Lake District. Two ST readers subsequently made their case for the library to be retained in separate forum letters, and urged the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to consider public opinions on the planned relocation before acting on it.
